Itsy Bitsy subset of XHTML Basic

XHTML Basic too big for you? John Cowan announced version 6.0 of IBTWSH, the Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Simple Hypertext DTD.

Cowan describes the problem solved by IBTWSH, a subset of XHTML Basic, as:

"It is often convenient for XML documents to have a bit of documentation somewhere in them. In the absence of a DTD like this one, that documentation winds up being #PCDATA only, which is a pity, because rich text adds measurably to the readability of documents."

Though IBTWSH is intended "for embedded use within other XML DTDs," Cowan provides html, head, title, and body element types for documents that only contain IBTWSH markup.

An earlier incarnation of IBTWSH was used in the Document Description Markup Language (DDML) for human-readable documentation.
