XML Base returns to Last Call
12:44, 8 Jun 2000 UTC | Edd Dumbill

Due to a large number of comments and changes in response to its Last Call Working Draft stage, the XML Base specification has been returned to Last Call.

XML Base provides a way for document authors to explicitly provide a base URI for XLinks, but has been modularized to enable other XML applications to take advantage of it--from whence sprang quite a few of the issues raised in Last Call. XML Base also sharpened the focus on the recently debated difficulties with relative URIs in Namespace declarations.

The XML Linking Working Group's response to the comments has been posted online.

The new Last Call period is due to end 28 June.
