XHTML
Final Stretch for W3C XForms
17:06, 12 Nov 2002 UTC | Micah Dubinko

The W3C has announced the publication of XForms 1.0 as a Candidate Recommendation, along with a call for implementations.

This release follows months of effort gathering input from the "Last Call" Working Draft, published in January, and subsequently updated in August.

Eleven companies included testimonials, several of which indicate advanced implementation plans.

Changes to the document since the last Working Draft include only minor editorial changes and indications of specific areas where implementation feedback is needed:

  • Experiences with associating an XML Schema with a form
  • The relationship between form data and the containing document
  • Technical details about recalculation of form data
  • Compatibility of submit formats
  • The amount of difference between XForms and XForms Basic, for small devices

The review period ends 5 March 2003. Implementation Workshop will be held on February 27 & 28 2003.
