E-business consortia meet for interoperability summit
14:23, 25 Oct 2001 UTC | Edd Dumbill

OASIS, OMG, HR-XML, UN/CEFACT and XBRL.org will host an interoperability summit in Florida, just before the XML 2001 conference, aimed at identifying standards crossover.

Carol Geyer of OASIS described the aim of the summit:

This is not simply another networking opportunity. The Interoperability Summit Series will identify concrete intersections between major horizontal and vertical standards in order to promote acceptance of common models and approaches. The outcome of the December Summit will be presented in a special session at XML 2001.

One particular item on the agenda will be discussion of the creation of a standards metadata registry, which will allow groups to publicize their efforts and discover related ones.

The summit will take place on December 6 & 7 at the Disney's Contemporary Resort in Orlando, Florida, USA. Registration costs US$200, and the summit is open to all. For more details see the summit home page. Attendees are also eligible for a discount for XML 2001.
