18:13, 29 Jul 2001 UTC | Edd Dumbill

Johan Blom has released SO WAP!, open-source support for WAP-related technologies using the functional programming language Erlang.

SO WAP! includes the following features:

  • Client and Server WAP stacks (WDP/UDP, WTP, WSP)
  • Incomplete HTTP/1.1 client
  • WBXML encoding/decoding of WML 1.1 documents
  • Character set translation

Blom requests help from other developers to complete and add to the SO WAP! functionality: features currently missing include WMLScript and WTLS. As well as the WAP client and server tools, a tool for creating WAP gateways, jngateway, is included in the distribution.

SO WAP! is hosted at SourceForge.
