eXist procides structured retrieval of XML documents with support for full text search, based on a traditional RDBMS. The latest version, 0.3, includes the following new features:

  • Oracle support
  • Speed improvements
  • Redesigned XPath parser
  • Faster loading of documents into the database
  • Designating of elements to be full-text indexed
  • Improved HTTP backend

eXist, programmed "just for fun" by Meier, can be obtained from http://exist.sourceforge.net.
