New open source BEEP implementation
15:14, 27 May 2002 UTC | Edd Dumbill

CodeFactory have announced RoadRunner, a C-based open source implementation of the BEEP protocol framework (RFC3080).

BEEP is a protocol framework, enabling multiplexing of multiple channels of communication over one connection. As well as implementing the framework, RoadRunner implements several profiles, which are application level protocols that use the framework.

RoadRunner's main features are its portability (tested on GNU/Linux, OpenBSD, NetBSD, Solaris, FreeBSD, MS Windows), object-oriented design, high performance and multi-threaded nature.

A reference manual and mailing list are also available.

Licensing terms are available online.
