SAX can defend itself
01:26, 17 Jun 2000 UTC | Simon St.Laurent

As David Megginson was asking for information about SAX2 applications, concerns arose regarding proprietary extensions to SAX, to which Megginson noted that "we have put at least some basic safety precautions in place."

Rather than prohibiting such extensions, the SAX2 architecture handles this issue by "recognizing that people will want to provide proprietary extensions and making it possible for them to do so."

General concerns regarding large companies in the computing marketplace continued to be voiced (1 2).

Megginson also noted the need to combine the several incompatible versions of SAX for C++.
