ACM Workshop on XML and Information Retrieval
12:03, 9 May 2000 UTC | Edd Dumbill

The ACM Information Retrieval SIG are holding an XML workshop in Athens in July, and have issued a call for papers and participation.

Announcing the workshop, David Carmel writes:

To date, most work on storing, indexing, querying, and searching documents in XML has stemmed from the database community's work on semi-structured data. An alternative approach, which has received less attention to date, is to view XML documents as a collection of text documents with additional tags and relations between these tags. In this workshop, we will explore both approaches and investigate the relationship between IR and XML.

More information is available from the workshop web site. The workshop is happening as part of SIGIR 2000.
