The W3C's technology for expressing privacy preferences, P3P, has moved to Proposed Recommendation status.

The previous publication of the specification was as a Last Call Working Draft in September 2001. P3P had previously been at Candidate Recommendation stage, but due to feedback from implementers went back to a working draft.

The changes in the PR from the Last Call draft are not substantial, and are documented at the bottom of the PR document.

P3P is currently implemented in Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6 browser. The W3C provides a list of other implementations.

If review of P3P by W3C members proceeds normally, P3P should become a Recommendation some time in March 2002.
