XSLT
XSLT as query language
10:49, 28 Nov 2001 UTC | Edd Dumbill

Evan Lenz of XYZFind has created TransQuery, a small set of XSLT conventions and processing model constraints that enable the use of XSLT as a query language over multiple XML documents.

As well as the TransQuery specification, Lenz has created an FAQ and browser-based demo. There is also a SourceForge-hosted open source implementation of the specification.

There are discussions underway about creating an OASIS technical committee for the further development of TransQuery. In an announcement on XML-DEV, Karl Best wrote:

Upon the request by three eligible participants, I have created an OASIS Discussion List whose purpose is to discuss the possible creation of an OASIS Technical Committee. Discussion on the list will begin in seven days, and the list and its archive will be deleted after 90 days, after which time a TC may be formed or not.

Archives are available, and the list subscription form is available on the OASIS mailing list site.
