Miloslav Nic has announced the Zvon Character Search, a simple tool that displays all you need to know about any Unicode character or HTML/MathML entities.

Based upon the Unicode Character Database and XML specification this tool also lists entities from the HTML 4.01 and MathML 2 specifications.

For instance, if you enter " ", you will discover that its name is "NO-BREAK SPACE", from the Unicode blocks "C1 Controls and Latin-1 Supplement", subblock ISO 8859-1 (aka Latin-1), categories "Separator, Space," but also that this character can be used in XML documents (but not as name of elements and attributes) and is known as entity "nbsp" for both HTML and MathML, and as entity "NonBreakingSpace" for MathML.
